Thank you for supporting the Breast Cancer Awareness Month! :D

We are running a series of 12 contests on the Pink for October website throughout October and there are many attractive prizes up for grabs too. That includes a “Share Your Story And Win A Prize” contest where you can share a true story, or encourage your friend/family/neighbour/colleague to share theirs, plus a "Design And Win" contest where you can submit the Pink for October buttons/badges/banners that you have designed.

For more information, please visit the official Pink for October website: http://pinkforoctober.org

Diane,

Good point about the blog! It's always good when a company can reach out to its publics and engage them; even consumers who have a complaint can air it and have it addressed by a company representative.

Thanks for the comment!

Hi DB,
You are absolutely right. If a competitor wanted to hurt your company, it could create negative buzz by having people enter adverse comments. A company Blog might help reverse negative comments. their supporters could enter psoitive comments. good point.

Hi Jimmimc,

Sorry, for some reason your comment got caught in the spam blocker. I have released it now.

I think your #8 is a good inclusion, but I'm intrigued by your #4. Why would you rank the Palm Pilot that high?

Thanks for the comment!

Hear ye, hear ye! Jak has proclaimed a worthy marketing commandment!

I agree that too often, we speak at audiences without taking the time to know more about them than an age range and income level. If we really want to sustain their loyalty, we will treat them as the important people they are.

After all, if they don't buy, the company doesn't earn, and if the company doesn't earn, we don't get paid. Turning it around, how then could we expect someone to speak to our needs when we're in the customer's role?

It is amazing how many companies don't start with the "who is our audience" question.

I am currently doing some work on the volunteer basis and they want posters made or press releases written, etc. I ask who am I writing this for and they reply "people"!

I know you are talking about new media, but it holds true across the board. Know thy audience before choosing thy medium. It really should be a marketing commandment.
